Sam here — did you miss us? Sterling and I took some time off from the newsletter to sort out some personal stuff. After a brief hiatus, we’re so excited to announce that Venus Gays is coming back.
We’ve got a fantastic slate of practical, entertaining posts coming your way, starting with our first monthly transit report. Moving forward, you can expect two transit-related missives each month: a forecast for the month ahead on the last Venus day (Friday) of the month, and then full horoscopes for each rising sign on the 1st. The transit overviews will be free, but horoscopes will only be available to paid subscribers.
Yep, we’re launching paid content. Exciting!
More housekeeping to come, but first, here’s your monthly transit overview for October 2023.
If you like what you read, please consider becoming a paid subscriber to access your horoscope each month. October’s horoscopes drop next Friday, September 29, so you’ve got a full week to pledge your support. (And all the time after that. But trust me, you’re gonna want these insights as you plan out your month ahead.)
Wednesday, October 4: Mercury enters Libra
On October 4, Mercury enters Libra. This ingress should help clean up any lingering messiness from September’s Mercury retrograde in Virgo. It also kicks off a brief planetary pile-up in Libra. With the Sun, Mercury, and Mars in this Venusian sign, you may feel more compelled to call up your friends, go on dates, or express yourself creatively.
Sunday, October 8: Mars in Libra squares Pluto in Capricorn
Tense aspects between Mars and Pluto can feel extreme, and October’s square is no exception. Personal and collective power imbalances will be inflamed, making our relationships feel more combustible than usual. Needless to say, this is not a good day to pick a fight or one-up someone. Expect outsized reactions to everyday conflicts.
Tuesday, October 10: Venus in Virgo opposes Saturn in Pisces
On October 10, Venus enters Virgo…only to oppose Saturn almost immediately. (On the heels of the Venus retrograde in Leo, too. Our girl, she can’t win!) This transit is the astrological equivalent of an ocean between you and something you really, really want. I’ve found that oppositions often play out in relationships, and with Venus in the mix, that’s all the more likely. If you’ve been romanticizing a person or situation, you’ll be forced to confront reality. Setting boundaries with yourself may help here.
Thursday, October 12: Mars enters Scorpio
Mars’ entrance into Scorpio mid-month will have us all feeling more in touch with our mojo. That’s because Mars rules Scorpio, so it does especially well in this sign. Expect greater stamina, sharper intuitive hits, and maybe even a higher libido.
Saturday, October 14: Solar Eclipse in Libra
Eclipse season has arrived. October’s solar eclipse in Libra is the first in this sign since the Nodes shifted to the Aries-Libra axis earlier this year. It’s occurring near the South Node, which is all about endings and releasing our attachments. That old fight you’re still sore about years later, or that childhood coping mechanism that’s wreaking havoc on your adult relationships? It’s time to let it go — and if you keep holding on, the Universe may very well intervene.
A quick witchy PSA: Eclipses aren’t ideal for manifestation or ritual work. That’s because these transits are volatile and energetically draining. In fact, the best “use” of an eclipse is to let it happen and watch what shakes loose.
Friday, October 20: Mercury Cazimi in Libra
Coming off last month’s retrograde, Mercury’s exact conjunction with the Sun in Libra should feel very clarifying. This important part of the Messenger Planet’s cycle acts as a lightbulb moment for communication and comprehension. If you’ve been putting off a hard conversation with a partner or creative collaborator, you’ll find that the right words come easily on this date.
Saturday, October 21: Venus in Virgo trines Jupiter in Taurus
Venus trining Jupiter demands an excess of pleasure, and in earth signs, we’re indulging our senses. This is a prime day for a bougie shopping spree or decadent meal — or both, if you can afford it. As they say in New Orleans, laissez les bon temps rouler.
Monday, October 23: The Sun enters Scorpio
Happy Scorpio season! The Sun’s annual trek through Scorpio illuminates our innermost depths. It’s a potent time of year for emotional excavation and investigations of any kind. If you’ve been meaning to process something or commit to a deep-dive, this energy will help you stay the course.
Saturday, October 28: Lunar Eclipse in Taurus
October’s lunar eclipse in Taurus will be the last in this sign for a hot minute, closing out a cycle that began in 2021. It’s occurring near the North Node, a karmic point associated with increase, personal evolution, and overindulgence.
This transit is headline-worthy on its own, but it’s not the only thing that’s happening astrologically on or around the 28th. That same day, Mars in Scorpio will oppose Jupiter in Taurus. And we might still be feeling a residual hangover (literally, figuratively, spiritually) from the Venus-Jupiter trine.
With Mars, Jupiter, and the North Node activated, we’ll want to go big, but we should probably just go home. That’s because lunar eclipses are physically and emotionally draining. Not to mention, these planetary influences don’t bode well for moderation. So respect your body’s limits, and leave wiggle room in your calendar in case you need to shift some plans around. (I know that’s a tall order since it’s Halloweekend, but seriously, try to get some rest and keep your schedule Loosey LaDuca. During eclipse season, surprises abound.)
Thanks for sticking with us, friends! May your eclipse season be…minimally chaotic, or at least chaotic in a fun way.
As a reminder, our first batch of monthly horoscopes for paid subscribers will drop next Friday, September 29. If you’re interested and able to do so, please consider becoming a paid subscriber to support our work and access this content.
